This advanced pattern uses heavy weight wool and size 1 regular and 10 ½ circular needles, a size 4, D and J crochet hooks. The pattern is completed using stockinette stitch (the purl side is the right side), short rows, intarsia technique and I-cord stitch. A few simple crochet stitches including chain stitch, single crochet are used to add finishing touches. Pat’s Dragon is made with about 140 yards of main color (purple green and blue blend) wool, 25 yards of light yellow wool. I used 25 yards of light weight rusty orange wool for the back ridge spikes, and details on the belly, and 40 yards of single strand lavender wool for the wings. Feel free to work in whatever colors you like. There are few registered Dragon breeders around to argue conformation. Plastic 9 mm yellow cat eyes complete the dragon’s details. Several pipe cleaners twisted together and threaded through the wing frame help support the wing.
