This is an intermediate pattern designed to be used with an oval plastic ice cream tub.  This pattern is worked with a heavy weight triple ply wool yarn on size 10 ½ needles, and is worked in stockinette stitch.  The pattern also uses simple embroidery stitches and some simple crochet stitches to complete the details.  I used 80 yards of Main color heavy weight wool yarn, and 40 yards of light yellow heavy weigh wool yarn for the base and chest.    You will also use approximately 20 yards each of yellow orange and red sport weight yarn for the back spines.  This pattern also uses a pair of size 9 mm yellow cat eyes.  You can use 6 pipe cleaners twisted together to support the neck. You will also use a #16 embroidery needle and a 1.65 mm crochet hook for details.  Purl side is the right side.  Stockinette gauge with heavy weight yarn on size 10 ½ needles- 3.5 sts and 5 rows to an inch.  You will need to drill holes 1/4 in holes in the top of the plastic container, just under the rim, approximately every 1 inch around the entire top to allow you to sew the body in place.
