This pattern is for the Pannier Only.  A pannier is a leather saddlebag used to carry a large supply of provisions. Bennie’s pannier is worked on size 10½ needles. This pattern uses approximately 40 yards of medium brown 3 ply heavy weight wool for the pannier, about 25 yards of white, 5 yards of grey, and 10 yards of Dark brown for the saddle blanket and canteen. This pattern uses stockinette stitch, and some beginning crochet stitches. The saddle blanket uses stockinette stitch and intarsia techniques for contrast colors.
