This stick dragon is worked feltable wool yarn using stockinette stitch, ribbing stitch, and short rows. Some simple embroidery and crochet stitches are also used. The head is worked on 10 ½ and 5 circular needles with 150 yards of heathered red heavy weight wool yarn and 50 yards of light copper for snout) and 30 yarns golden yellow, or color of your choice, The eye backgrounds are worked on size 5 needles with approximately 10 yards heavy weight black wool yarn. Approximately 30 yards each or medium green, light yellow and medium gold sport weight yarn, and 40 yards of sport weight orange contrast yarn is used with a Size 6 and I crochet hooks for detailing. Approximately 15 yards oflight pink heavy weight yarn form the mouth, 5 yarns of heavy weight white yarn for teeth, and 10 yards of worsted weight red yarn for tongue. A #16 embroidery needle is used to sew the finished project together. Industrial strength adhesive backed Velcro is used to attach the head to the ¾ inch 36" dowel stick. The PURL side is the right side for the majority of the dragon. The face and spikes are done with knit side out. French Knots are used for teeth. The project is FULLED when finished. Folded pipe cleaners are pulled into the head spikes after felting for stiffening.
